Dutch Football Ecosystem

Soccerex | Johan Cruijff Arena Amsterdam

Translating total football into a global platform

At global sports conventions, countries are not just present, they are evaluated.

For the Netherlands, Soccerex Amsterdam created an opportunity to position itself as a leading football nation within an international ecosystem of federations, clubs, investors and commercial partners.

Beewan developed a national pavilion that translated the Dutch football identity into a spatial and experiential platform, designed to attract, connect and perform under global exposure.

Project details

Soccerex brings together the global football industry.

Clubs, federations, leagues, investors and brands converge to explore partnerships and position themselves within the international market.

For the Netherlands, hosting Soccerex created a moment of visibility , not just as organiser, but as a football nation.

The question was not how to be present ,
but how to stand out.

We approached the pavilion not as an exhibition stand,
but as a national platform.

The pavilion was designed as the central meeting place on the exhibition floor , a shared environment where Dutch stakeholders could present themselves collectively.

The objective was to translate the Dutch football ecosystem into a coherent spatial experience, enabling visibility, interaction and connection.

The design was built around three principles:

Total Football as Identity
The Dutch philosophy of total football , movement, openness and collaboration , was translated into a spatial language that felt dynamic and accessible.

Open Platform
The pavilion functioned as an open and inviting environment, lowering thresholds and encouraging flow, meetings and exchange.

Shared Presence
Multiple stakeholders were brought together within one identity, strengthening collective visibility while allowing individual expression.

Presence became interaction.
Interaction became opportunity.

Global exhibition environments are highly competitive.

Every participant seeks attention, relevance and visibility.

For a national pavilion, complexity increases:
multiple stakeholders, different agendas and shared ownership.

The challenge was to create one shared identity and experience, aligning all participants while maintaining clarity, openness and impact.

The Netherlands Pavilion operated as a central meeting point within Soccerex.

It attracted a continuous flow of international visitors and facilitated connections between Dutch and global stakeholders.

By combining openness, identity and interaction, the pavilion strengthened the visibility of the Dutch football ecosystem within a highly competitive international context.

What began as presence became positioning.

The Experience

The pavilion translated football into experience.

A distinct football look and feel defined the space, creating immediate recognition and relevance within the Soccerex environment.

Interactive elements invited visitors to engage.
A suspended ball, positioned at the exact height of a Virgil van Dijk header, challenged visitors to test their own ability, turning a moment of performance into a shared experience.

These elements created energy, interaction and memorability, transforming the pavilion from a place to visit into a place to engage.

This is where exhibitions move beyond presentation,
and become platforms for connection.
